Everyone has a “tell.” Professional poker players go to great lengths to hide theirs. Some will wear sunglasses, cowboy hats, and heavy jackets in the sweltering Las Vegas heat to hide them. Others will practice going through the same routine (such as walking around in a small circle) after each card is dealt. Still, others grow full beards and practice keeping the same expression on their faces in a mirror, no matter what happens to them. They practice doing this when they are not playing poker. Sadly, for John, Helen has realized his “tell.” This fact would be the cause of great pain to him over the course of his and Helen’s relationship
