Live from Cut-N-Shoot Texas, it’s the Joe Groan Show here on KIND/KING Conroe Cut-N-Shoot, all Joe Groan all the time. And now, here’s the number one-hundred and fifth rated radio station in the northeast corner of Southeast Texas, Joe Groan!
Oh, oh, oh! The closing ceremonies for the Animal Olympics are tomorrow, but there are two events that may not end by then. The first is these guys.

The first heat of the Tortoise ten-k is almost over, and another heat is about to begin. There are eight heats, though, and then the quarter finals, the semi- finals, and then the championship. That involves the winners of each heat competing against each other, two tortoises at a time, eliminating the losers in each event, but there’s a catch. So that there will be enough competitors, the two tortoises with the fastest times in the quarterfinals get to participate in the semi-finals. Yes, folks, this event may take the rest of the year, but that’s okay, because the Houston Astrodome has been abandoned since the Astros left in 2000 for their new stadium in the second ward. That move, along with the Houston Rockets building the Toyota Center to play games in has revived the Second Ward of Houston, but the Astrodome has only one event per year: this one.
And now, for the premier event, the co-favorite cats of the Animal Olympics, the Electrifying, Lively, Awesome Cat-fighter, a.k.a. ELAC,

is locked into a battle for the ages as she competes against the other co-favorite to win these games, Tucker Tucker Two, a.k.a. The Cat Fighter Formerly Known As The Tuxedo (who really needs a shorter nickname) Now Simply Known as T Because Triple T Was Already Taken.

ElAC and T have been locked into a Pong tournament

for the last sixteen hours, and there’s no end in sight. Since the winner must score two more points than the other participant, this game has gone into quintuple overtime. These two cats are so evenly matched, that this Pong tournament may last until the tortoise ten -k is over. The reflexes of both cats are amazing, and their strategies to overcome the fact that they don’t have opposable thumbs to work the game controllers is astounding!

d.: Well, we’re out of time for today, folks.

Please join us tomorrow to find out which charity will benefit from the generosity of the best all-around animal right here on Cal.E.’s Korner.
