d.: (ring) Oh, hi, Cal.E., how are you?
C.: I’m fine. I just was thinking that we need to write our blog before you get too busy._
d.: Actually, I have a free day today.
C.: Your not working at The Kennel today?
d.: No, I’m on my off days.
C.: True, but you often work off schedule, don’t you?
d.: I do, as most nurses do, but I’m of for the next two days.
C.: No schoolwork?
d.: No, I’m on winter break from my classes.
C.: Are you also on winter break from exercise?
d.: No, but I've already been to the gym today.
C.: No writing or editing, or writing query emails to agents and publishers?
d.: Not today.
C.: Then, you have nothing on your schedule today?
d.: No, not really.
C.: Well, if you have nothing on your schedule, how do you know when your done for the day?
d.: Oh, shoot. I forgot, I do have a doctor’s appointment, but that’s later. There was something else, though…
C.: Isn’t today Eudora’s birthday?
d.: Yes it is. That must be what else I was supposed to remember. I already got her a present and a nice card…now, I just need to remember where I hid them.
I know I have a bad memory, but Eudora’s my wife, so I should remember when her birthday is. How did you remember that, though?
C.: Haven’t you ever heard that cats have memories like steel traps?
d.: No, I haven’t. Where did you hear or read that?
C.: Hear or read what?
d.: That cats have good memories.
C.: We do? That’s news to me.
d.: You just said that…oh, never mind. I need to go find Eudora’s present and card…
C.: So, I guess that’s all the time we have for today, folks. Please join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner.
d.: (Now, what was I about to do?)
