Live from Cut-N-Shoot Texas, it’s the Joe Groan Show here on KIND/KING Conroe Cut-N-Shoot, the number one-hundred and fifth rated radio station in the northeast corner of Southeast Texas. And now, here’s your host, Joe Groan!

d.: (ring) Hello?

C.: Hi, d.c., it’s me, Cal.E. the one and only…talking Earth cat.

d.: Didn’t you teach your third husband Tucker Tucker Two, a.k.a. The Cat Fighter Formerly Known As The tuxedo (who really needs a shorter nickname) Now Simply Known As T Because Triple T Was Already Taken how to speak English, too?

C.: So, what’s your point?

d.: Just that, what you said isn’t true if two cats here on Earth can speak English. And… hasn’t your thirty-third cousin twice removed and mirror opposite, Electrifying, Lively Awesome Cat Fighter otherwise known as ELAC able to speak English. And hasn’t she taken up permanent residence here on this planet?

C.: I suppose so…anyway, what are you doing?

d.: Well, before you called, I was about to listen to my favorite talk show host on KEEN/KING Cut-N-Shoot Conroe. They have the Joe Groan Show on 24/7/365, so I suppose I can listen later, but I thought I had some time to listen to his show before you got back from your doctor’s appointment. Why are you back home so early?

C.: Well, I was going to see my psychologist. I was feeling like I had dissociative disorder. However, she said that she would need to charge each one of me her hourly rate. That cured me, so I took all three of me and left.

d.: Hmm. Well, what do you want to talk about today?

C.: Guess.

d.: I suppose that we should talk about mental illnesses, which are no laughing matter. Unfortunately, the stigma that was attached to these conditions still exists, to some extent. Mental illness isn’t something that most people feel comfortable talking about, though, even in the twenty-first century. If someone needs help with a mental illness, s/he should seek help by reaching out to the appropriate providers.

My analogy of mental illnesses is this: it’s like an allergy. Some people are born allergic to certain foods, and some people have brains that are wired differently than others. To fit in with the rest of the world, they sometimes need help adjusting their thinking, but some people have become famous despite or because of their mental illness.

One of the smartest men who ever lived, Leonardo da Vinci was thought to have had Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder, better known as ADHD.

Da Vinci, like many of the people who suffer from this disorder, is believed to have an extremely high I.Q. Some estimate that his was over three hundred, but the highest I.Q. on record is 276. However, there were neither tests for da Vinci’s disorder nor to measure his I.Q. Of course, I.Q. tests are somewhat subjective since there are two different tests to measure one’s intelligence.

Some brilliant men and women have had mental disorders, but didn’t let that keep them from achieving sometimes astounding accomplishments, and others find themselves confined to jail or prison because of what their disorders cause them to do, which is sad. The right treatment can help someone control impulsive behavior if it is taken correctly and seriously, like any treatment for a physical disorder or disability.
