d.: Man, I'm glad that I wore my mask when I got off work. A lot of people wer coughing in the waiting room, and I was in there for a while. I worked all night and now I have an early doctor’s appointment before I go catch som Zs. I hope this doctor can tell me what to do about my right shoulder. It’s been messed up since my cycling accident twenty-three years ago. He’s had time to read the MRI, so I hope that he can help me with this problem.
Doctor: Mr. scot, I’ve taken a look at your MRIs and X-rays. I don’t see anything that unusual for a man your age. Arthritis spikes and torn labrums come with age. Since you aren’t closing for the Astros and you’re more or less ambidextrous from observing
you, I suggest that you just use your left arm and hand as much as possible.
d.: Is there anything else that I can do?
Dr.: Well, you can do these rehab exercises. Here’s you a sheet with the specifics.
d.: I’ve done those exact exercises five different times.
Dr.: Try it a sixth time and then come see me in six months.
d.: I guess I’ll have time to edit Cal.E.’s short story since I’m in too much pain to sleep now.
A Strange Planet
The truck stopped at another fueling station, which awoke me from a long cat nap. Although I was exhausted from the trip to Earth in my spaceship from the Planet of the Talking Cats, my body needed nourishment as well as rest. As I awoke, I smelled a wonderful smell, so I followed my nose to the source of the smell. After I jumped the fence into someone's yard, I met another large cat who was eating his dinner. As I approached him the cat gave me a friendly greeting in Catonese. He then proceeded to tell me that he would share his food, because he had plenty and his human would give him more if he asked politely. He said that he only had one condition for sharing his food.
d.: Ow! My Shoulder really hurts, so I suppose that I should stop typing now. The doctor said to stop doing anything that was painful with it, and typing is very painful. I can type with one hand, but that would slow me down too much. I think better when I’m typing fast.
I would use the voice typing command, but my computer doesn’t understand my southern accent. I suppose it was made up north. Since I can’t use either of these techniques, I guess that’s all can type today. Please join me tomorrow for another episode of my partner, Cal.E. Katt’s short story entitled “A Strange Planet.”
