d.: Well, with Cal.E. running for Ruler of the Planet of the Talking Cats, I suppose that I have time to work on polishing up her short story for her. I just need to reread some of what I’ve written and edit it to get me going in the right direction.
Cal.e.’s Korner, in cooperation with d.c. scot productions brings you an (almost) true short story about a cat’s adventure from another planet to Planet Earth.
A STRANGE PLANET
By Cal.E. Kat.
Edited by: d.c. scot.
It was a clear night, which made it all the more frustrating that my autopilot had failed to locate the big, honking planet that was in its path. My frustration, however, was soon replaced by a short-lived feeling of relief. I was banished from my planet by my ex-husband, King Tom,
for eating his Rodent Prepared for Royalty. Since I was the queen of the Planet of the Talking Cats, I thought that I was entitled to such a meal. However, King Tom had declared that anyone who ate his meal would be executed.
My ex must have still had some love for me in his heart, because he and the Ruler of the Cat Galaxy, the evil Meow Z.. Tongue,
came up with a plan to spare my life. Meow decreed that I would be banned from the galaxy via a spaceship. The only condition was that, if I did happen to land on a planet before I died, I was to send reports to Meow Z. Tongue about the planet. This was so that he could decide if the planet had enough energy to power the Planet of the Talking Cats when it used up all its energy in one million cat naps. I wondered, as my spaceship crash landed into a hated body of water, if Meow had somehow interfered with the autopilot and influenced my spacecraft to land on this planet, but my thoughts were soon interrupted by another, even more disturbing thought. I knew that Meow had set the timer on my spacecraft to explode exactly ten minutes after it crashed landed on a planet. This was so that I would be sure to send him my reports and not try to wander is space indefinitely, sacrificing my life to save a whole planets’ population.
Since I could only count to two at the time, I counted as high as I could and then exited the spacecraft.
I knew by instinct that all cats are born knowing how to swim, but I also knew that I hated water from experience with it. As I began to swim, I counted to two as many times as I could.
Fortunately, I had landed in a body of water that was shallow at the time. The Gulf of Mexico is shallow during late July and early August, so I was able to swim to land without exhausting myself. As I put my paws on dry ground, I could see a reflection of my spaceship, my last hope of getting back to my family, friends, and way of life, exploding in the reflection of a shiny building that I was later to learn was called a barn. There, I was to meet the cat who would direct my path to a successful existence on my new planet, Barney the Barn Cat, but not before having to outrun some four-legged monsters I feared were carnivorous.
d.: Man, I’m tired after working out, going to the doctor shopping and taking care of all my animals. Since Eudora is visiting her sister Yetta Nather, on the east coast, I’m the only one that can take care of the animals.
Yetta and Eudora
are on a cruise with my neighbors, Horace and Hortense, whom Eudora was surprised to see on the cruise ship that Yetta and her husband own.
,
They surprised Eudora when they decided to book a cruise to coincide with her and her sister's. Everyone knows that a man should name a ship after the most significant female in his life, so the ship and the cruise line are named after my sister-in-law: Yetta Nather Cruise Ship and Cruise Line.
I hear Big Boy and Shon crying for me to feed them, or maybe to let them inside since it is raining.
At least T. Puppy isn’t her…(ring) but that may be her calling me now. She’s rehabbing from a leg injury she suffered in the last game she played in the Triple Z baseball farm league, and she’s calling me now because she wants to talk to her daddy before undergoing treatment. That means that’s all the time I have for today, folks. Please Join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner.
