Cal.E.'s Korner

We can never know about the days to comeBut we think about them anywayAnd I wonder if I'm really with you nowOr just chasin' after some finer day

Procrastination, Procrastination,Is makin' me lateIs keepin' me waitin'

And I tell you how easy it feels to be with youAnd how right your arms feel around meBut I, I rehearsed those words just late last nightWhen I was thinkin' about how right tonight might be

Procrastination, Procrastination,Is makin' me lateIs keepin' me waitin'

And tomorrow we might not be togetherI'm no prophet and I don't know nature's waysSo I'll try and see into your eyes right nowAnd stay right here 'cause these are the good old days

And stay right here 'cause these are the good old days(These are the good old days)(These are the good old days)(These are the good old days)(These are the good old days)

C.: I have the day off, and the Astros are struggling right now. I’ll return to watching them when they’re doing better (although I think that we should start booing Jose Altuve at home so that he’ll do as well at home as he does on the road).

I’ll do what d.c. does in his spare time, I’ll write a novel. If a simple human can do it, surely a cat can. All I need is a computer, which I have, and a good imagination. Check and Check. Now, all I must do is come up with a catchy title and an idea for a story. d.c. says that short titles, i.e. three words or less are the most memorable. Hmm, I’m a cat, so, THE CAT BURGLAR would be a good name for my epic novel. Maybe I should add a twist, like this is about a human who steals cats. That should sell well. I’ll be a meiowainnare, like my husband, Tucker Tucker Two, a.k.a. The Cat Fighter Formerly Known As The Tuxedo (who really needs a shorter nickname) Now Simply Known As T Because Triple T Was Already Taken is be the end of the year.

Now, I need a setting. Since I live in Houston, Texas, I’ll make it the fictional town of Horse Town, Tennessee. The town will be run by horses who love cats. That wasn’t so hard. I’m two-thirds of the way there. Now, I need a plot. Why is the antagonist stealing cats, and who’s the protagonist, and how does s/he stop the notorious cat burglar? And why would he come to a town of horses that love cats, if he really wants to have a lot of cats? That’s it, he’ll kidnap the cats for ransom.

But, maybe a horse would only be able to pay ransom in hay and oats, and cats don’t eat either. However, hay makes a good bed. Now, what to do with the oats? Well, this is a human, so maybe he’ll make it into oatmeal. Now I’m stuck. d.c. says that sometimes he just starts typing and the story comes to him as he types. I’ll try that, although I don’t have opposable thumbs, so I won’t be able to type as fast as d.c. does.

It…was…a…hot….and humid day.

Well, I’ve typed the introductory sentence, so I deserve break and a snack. Let me see what T has for me to eat. Yuck!! All he has is health food. Low-calorie cat food that’s made out of..oats! Now I’m cooking. I’ll use this as an inspiration.

It was a hot and humid day, and the oats were getting all yucky. Hmm, I don’t think that’s right. Let me try again.

It was a hot and humid day, not one that a cat would enjoy eating oats if s/he is outside.

But wait, the horses love their cats, so they would never keep them outside. The cats would be inside in the air conditioning with their obedient slaves, the horses. So, that’s no good (ring). Oh, I must answer the phone. One never knows when someone may call telling him or her that he or she has won a large amount of money.

“Hello.”

This is your vet clinic calling to remind you that you have an appointment to have your teeth cleaned and your roots planed and scraped next Tuesday. Have a good day, ma’am sir or nonbinary individual.

C.: Well, I could have done without that. I should have let it go to voice mail. But, she said next Tuesday. Today is Sunday, which some consider to be the first day of the week. Others say it’s Monday, so, is my appointment two days from now or nine days from now. I need to make a mental note to call the vet clinic back when it opens tomorrow. I don’t want to miss that appointment. I should really start getting ready for it, if it is two days from now. I wouldn’t want my teeth to be yucky for the vet, so I guess that’s all the time we have for today, floks. Please join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner.
