Oh, yeah
Sha la, la, la, la, la, my lady In the sun with your hair undone Can you hear me now Callin' your name from across the bay? A summer's day, laughin' and a-hidin' Chasin' love out on Shelter Island
Hey, hey, hey, hey
She was the color of the Indian summer And we shared the hours without number Until one day when the sky turned dark And the winds grew wild Caught by the rain and blinded by the lightning We rode the storm out there on Shelter Island
I held her close Until the storm passed And we fell down laughing in the wet grass Both our bodies drying in the sunshine Sweet sunshine
So, sha la, la, la, la, la, my lady In the sun with your dress undone Now every mile away and every day Cuts a little bit deeper I'll remember the nights in the cool sand Makin' love out on Shelter Island
Goodbye, Shelter Island

d.: (ring) well, Cala.E.’s not answering the phone. I need to ask her why we had seven days of no blog when I had asked her to take care of our blog posts while I was on vacation and not able to access the internet. (ring) That’s okay, because it will give me a chance to tell y’all about the adventure Eudora and I had while on vacation in Alaska (ring).
We went whale watching on an expedition, but the boat capsized when a killer whale splashed his tail alongside of it. We had to swim to shore, and the only place that was close enough without freezing to death was a place called Shelter Island. (ring). It’s one of the few places left within the boundaries of the United States that is totally off the grid. There’s no electricity or running water, and, of course, no internet (ring). We had to hunt and fish for our food until we were rescued by the Coast Guard (rii) Oh, hi Cal.E. What took you so long to answer the phone?
C.: I was… working on my manuscript (yeah, that’s it).
d.: Is that why that why there were no posts for Cal.E.’s Korner for seven days straight, because you were working on your manuscript, and not making posts like I asked you to do?
C.: Yes, that is why I didn’t post while you were away, d.c. I was working on the manuscript you inspired.
d.: ???
C.: When you said that you and Eudora saw the place where the movie “Sleepless in Seattle” was filmed, it inspired me to write my masterpiece.
d.: What’s it called?
C.: SLEEPING IN SONOMA. I think it’s quite good. Here, take a peek.
d.: This is just three hundred pages of zs!
C.: Yes, it’s about a cat sleeping in Sonoma, California. That’s why it’s three hundred pages of zs. Anyway, did you enjoy your trip to Alaska on the cruise ship where there was food galore all of the time along with entertainment most of the time? How much weight did you gain, a pound a day, or maybe more?
d.: Cal.E., I was just telling the audience about our little adventure on Shelter Island….
C.: When you and Eudora rode by it in a chartered boat on your way to watch a gentle humpback whale and then went into town and ate a seafood feast fit for cat royalty? Seriously, how much weight did you gain, d.c.? I mean, Eudora took pictures of your breakfast plates all seven days on the cruise ship. You’ll probably need to fast for a week just to get back to the weight you were before you left! And Eudora said that the crew catered to the passengers’ every whim! That must have been fun!
d.: Yes, well, getting back to the blog…
C.: Oh, yes, d.c. I have that covered.
d.: You do?
C.: Yes, I’ll just put excerpts from my book on the blog every day until the last page. That should give you enough time to recover from your pampered vacation.
d.: You don’t need to work that hard, Cal.E., I’ll help with the blog. I might even do what I had asked you to do, put excerpts from some of my books on the blog. You didn’t run one while I was gone.
C.: Well, I hate to cut this short, but I must get ready for work.
d.: I thought you weren’t scheduled to work until tomorrow.
C.: Yes, and I must get ready to work tomorrow. I need at least sixteen hours of sleep, so we’ll need to cut this short today.
d.: Well, I guess that’s all for today, folks. Please join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner.
