Cal.E.'s Korner

I know you've heard the stories But they all sound too good to be true You've heard about a place called home But there doesn't seem to be one for you So one more night you cry yourself to sleep And drift off to a distant dream

Where love takes you in and everything changes A miracle starts with the beat of a heart When love takes you home and says you belong here The loneliness ends and a new life begins When love takes you in

And somewhere while you're sleeping Someone else is dreaming too Counting down the days until They hold you close and say I love you And like the rain that falls into the sea In a moment what has been is lost in what will be

When love takes you in everything changes A miracle starts with the beat of a heart

And this love will never let you go There is nothing that could ever cause this love to lose its hold

When love takes you in everything changes A miracle starts with the beat of a heart When love takes you home and says you belong here The loneliness ends and a new life begins When love takes you in it takes you in for good When love takes you in

C.: Hey, d.c. , is the plumber still at your house?

d.: Yes, but he’s almost through.

C.: Good, I may need him by the time Ralph is through in the bathroom. He's been in there for along time. Anyway, how is plumbing like our jobs at the kennel?

d.: I don’t know, Cal.E., how are the two similar?

C.: In both situations, dung flows downhill, and neither should bite their finger or toenails (hehe).

d.: I suppose that’s true, Cal.E. Anyway, I guess that your parents will be back soon from their cruise. Are you looking forward to seeing them?

C.: Yes. I’m anxious to see Mom, Dad, and their whole entourage.

d.: Their entourage?

C.: Yes, when they were younger, every time they went somewhere, they brought home a human baby. Those are fun to play with, and they don’t take up too much room.

d.: I think that your parents are done with raising children, Cal.E.

C.: Don’t be too sure. Dad thought that many times, but they kept getting babies.

d.: Well, they were foster parents for human kids and fur babies…

C.: Yes, that is how humans acquire their young, by fostering them.

d.: Not exactly, Cal.E. Didn’t your parents ever tell you the facts of life?

C.: Oh, sure, and I have fourteen kittens, d.c. I know how animals have their kittens, but human hairless kittens come to their families differently.

d.: Oh? How are human hairless kittens come to their families, Cal.E?

C.: Well, first the phone rings. Then, Mom runs around the house looking for things. She then sends Dad to someplace called “Walmart” to get what they don’t have. Dad doesn’t want to go, because he says that Walmart is his version of Hell on Earth, but Mom says it’s a necessary evil. Dad goes, anyway, because he wants a baby. Then, Dad comes home, and Mom sends him back to his “Hell on Earth” to get more things.

A few hours later, the doorbell rings, and it’s either a pizza or a man or a woman with a baby. If it’s the latter, Mom and Dad sit at the table with the man or woman and talk about the new child. The baby smiles at one or both of its new parents, and Mom says that she wants to keep the baby forever…

d.: I think you may be a little confused, Cal.E.

C.: No, no. I’ve seen this happen one dozen times, at least. This is how human hairless babies come to their mom and dad.

d.: Well, Cal.E., your mom and dad only have three boys. Where did the other nine children go?

C.: To some place called adoption. I don’t know exactly where that is, but it must be a wonderful place.

d.: Why do you say that, Cal.E.?

C.: Because, the baby gets all the love and affection it needs, as well as food, clothes and shelter, and the grownups get the baby they always wanted. That place must be "Heaven on Earth."

d.: I’m sure your right, Cal.E. It’s a wonderful place for the kids and the adults.*
