RAlPH: Mom, I got stuck in Denver. I missed my connecting flight in Denver, because my originating flight was late. The airline is putting me up for the night, but I must be in Saskatchewan by Friday. What should I do, since the airline is leaving it up to me to choose my flight? I have never overseen my own plans. I would like to sleep in and catch the last flight, since I have a couple of days to get there.
C.: I would not do that, Ralph.
RALPH: Why is that, Mom?
C.: Some words of wisdom that were passed along to me by d.c., Ralph, were these. Always take the first flight available in case the later flights get canceled. Always be at the airport before you should be, according to the airline, because things happen. Do not expect people to be polite or to follow proper etiquette, because, chances are, they will not. Many are in an unfamiliar environment and are stressed. Others are just rude and selfish, as well as obnoxious. This is not limited to people in large cities or just on the east coast. Those people have a reputation for being rude and always thinking that their time is more important tan anyone else’s, but they are not the only ones who feel that way. Never assume that a flight will be on time, but you should be on time for the flight, if not early.
Never get upset at other people or a frustrating situation. Instead, try to figure out what YOU should do. Never leave anything to chance, or the someone else to decide. And, above all, NEVER fly Delta or park at Park ‘N’ Fly. Neither tries very hard to correct their mistakes and help you with meeting your schedule.
