This is a daily blog told from the perspective of my family's all-time favorite pet, CAl. E. Kat
Well, I am finally awake. Sorry about yesterday. I had a rough night! For those of you who have insomnia, catnip is NOT the answer! The question that kept me awake all day was “what is another word for synonym?” If you can answer that question, you are smarter than Google employees. On with the story.
The animal in the picture is a raccoon. Or just a ‘coon in Texas and throughout the South. ‘Coons are notorious for being thieves. Campers often have a hard time keeping them from stealing food that they leave outside, even if they leave the food in a cooler, or hang it on a line in the air. ‘Coons have sharp claws on their front feet and are very dexterous with their front paws, almost as dexterous as humans.
Now, I will tell you about a member of the human kennel that claimed NOT to be a thief. Inmates must go to the “pill window” to get meds that they cannot keep with them in their cubicles. They sometimes take narcotics (at the taxpayer’s expense) and other drugs that would be dangerous to keep on their person because these drugs are in high demand. There are not usually ‘coons in a human kennel, so it is the other inmates that take those drugs that are not prescribed to them. One claimed NOT to be a thief, though. He was leaning on the pill window seal, a big no no in the human kennel. The officers are afraid that the inmate may steal a mediation that is not prescribed to him. One had his hand on the window seal. The officer warned him to take his hand down. The inmate replied, “but I am not a thief.”
“Why are you in the human kennel, then?” asked the officer.
“I’m an ax murderer,” the inmate replied.
“My apologies,” the officer replied. “You still cannot lean on the pill window seal.” The inmate removed his hand and was escorted back to his dorm by the corrections officer.
SMH! What a VERY strange world!
