Cal.E.'s Korner

C.: Well, my favorite show, “Nine Lives to Give” is on television here on the Planet of the Talking Cats, and I’d like to catch up. I haven’t been able to watch this show in months since it was canceled on Earth, so I’ll need to catch up on the plot.

Now, let’s see. In the last episode I saw, Bart was going into the saloon to find the man that shot his paw. He has a pronounced  limp, and the doctor told him that his left hind leg will need to be amputated because it’s infected. He doesn’t want the surgery, so he wants to track down the cat who killed his biological father before he dies. He has it on good authority that the cat hangs out at the”Long-Tail Saloon,” so he was going to go into the saloon to find Ben Dunn.

Hmm…It doesn’t look like a confrontation has occurred between these two characters yet, and it was canceled on Earth at the beginning of this year. I guess this gives Bart a chance to catch the audience up on the backstory. There’ Bart, the solid black cat. That’s how he got his nickname: Snow.

Oh, good, Bart is about to confront Ben.(ring) I can’t answer my phone, even though it’s an intergalactic call. I need to see what happens next. (ring) I’ll just let it go to voicemail and see what the caller wanted later, because I can only watch this show live. Otherwise, another cat who’s a fan of this show might tip me off as to what will happen…Well, Bart didn’t shoot Ben. They’re both still alive and sharing a bowl of fresh, warm milk at the Long-Tail Saloon. I suppose Bart is going to set up his rival by earning his trust first. I’ll need to watch the show tomorrow. Hmm. I’ll need to cancel that speech I was going to give at the planet capital building tomorrow, though, to watch the show live. Oh well, sacrifices must be made when one is pursuing political office. Now, to see what that intergalactic call was about.

d.: Cal.E., it’s me, d.c., and I need your help. I need to decide if my main character on my television show “Houston, 911, Med & P.D. should have been a cop first, and then became a paramedic, then a doctor, and finally firefighter, or the reverse. I’d like to know what you think, because channel 2222222.22 liked my idea for a pilot for that show. That station is available in one tenth of one-hundredth of the population of Greater Houston. If I can get three percent of those people to watch my show, It should take off!

However, Eudora is out of town, and I can’t discuss this with anyone at work. It’s against policy there to talk about anything not pertaining to what’s going on at the unit, so please return my call when you can.

I must work tonight to fill in for another nurse who’s on leave, and I’ll need to sleep until the early afternoon. Then I’ll need to wake up, throw long-toss with T. Puppy to keep her in shape for the winter league baseball season, watch all the shows on my dvr, eat, take a shower and relax some, so call me around seven p.m., please. Thank you so much.

C.: Hmm… let’s see. There’s a time differential between our two planets of twenty-two point five seven seven nine hours, but d.c.’s time zone is on Daylight Savings Time, which messes up my calculations. I’ll need to figure this out.

Carry the one, divide by the square root of twenty-two and then multiply by five point seven… No, d.c. wants me to call him while “Nine Lives to Give” is on, and I have a feeling that something interesting is going to happen tomorrow.\

Eureka! That’s it!! I’ll….

d. Well, that’s all the time we have for today, folks. Pleas join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner.
