C: Since we’re both off work today and my human mom and dad are on yet another cruise, I’ll call d.c. and see if he wants to do something fun today if he's not too busy writing, running, swimming or cycling. (ring) Well, my mind does wander when I’m waiting for anything but food, so I’ll just go with it. d.c said Eudora made him a pineapple upside down cake for his birthday yesterday. I like to see what my food looks like, so I would probably turn it over before eating it. So, if I turn my piece of pineapple upside down cake over, is it still a pineapple upside down cake, or is it then a pineapple right side up cake? (ring). And, if I’m eating an apple turnover, and I turn it back over, is it still an apple turnover, or is it something else (ring) Maybe it’s an apple fritter then, whatever that is. (Ring) Exactly what is an apple fritter, and is it anything like a (rii)-- “Oh, hi, d.c., what are you doing today?”
d.: Trying to stay cool.
C.: you’re not writing, running, cycling, or swimming on your day off from work?
d. No. It’s too hot to run or cycle, and the pool is closed. I’m done with my manuscript, and I don’t feel like editing it today.
C.: Well, if you’re not running, cycling, swimming, or writing today, would you like to do something fun?
d.: Like what?
C.: Well, since we’ve ruled out running, cycling, writing, and swimming, maybe we could go see a movie. I know that may not be as much fun as running, cycling, swimming, or writing, but it is something to do.
d.: What movie would you like to see, Cal.E.?
C.: Well, I don’t want to see a movie about writing, running, swimming, or cycling, so maybe we could go see the movie The Flash.
d.: I’ve seen it already.
C.: I thought that you were too busy working, writing, running, cycling, and swimming to go see a movie. When did you go see the movie The Flash, may I ask?
d.: When we were in Seattle, waiting for our flight back to Houston.
C.: So, you didn’t write, work, swim, or cycle while you were on vacation?
d.: No.
C.: Well, if you’re not going to work, write, cycling, or swim, maybe we could go see the new Indianna Jones movie.
d.: I can’t.
C.: Why? Did you change your mind and decide to run, cycle, write or swim today?
d.: No, Cal.E., I’m not going to cycle, swim, write or run today, but Eudora and I plan to go see that movie tomorrow.
C.: So, you’re not going to write, swim, cycle or run tomorrow either?
d.: Not outside, anyway.
C.: Well, if you’re not going to write, cycle, swim or run this afternoon, maybe we could play a game of tiddlywinks.
d.: Do you think you can play tiddlywinks without opposable thumbs?
C.: d.c., I might not be able to cycle because I’m a cat, but I can swim, run, and write with a computer that takes dictation; and I can definitely play tiddlywinks.
d.: Well, since neither of us is going to write, swim, run or cycle today, I guess we can play a game of tiddlywinks, but we’ll need to end this blog first.
C.: Done.
