C.: d.c. you were late coming home from work again this morning. Is your coworker still sick?
d.: Yes, she is. I was obligated to stay at work until they found someone else to fill in for her. I am glad, though, that this did not happen a few months ago. I might still be at work.
C.: Why is that?
d.: Because now, there is only one mental health provider at the human kennel. It is a better situation.
C.: You MUST explain the situation. I am confused.
d.: One of the inmates was missing at count time. An officer finally confessed that he let that inmate go to Walmart when the inmate was outside working. The officer said that the inmate promised he would come back.
C.: Did he?
d.: Yes, he did, finally. He only has about three months left on his sentence, so he was not trying to escape. As it turns out, the officer has been letting the inmate walk to Walmart on a daily basis. He has some civilian clothes stored in the woods. He changes clothes and goes into Walmart. He shops for the officer and his wife. Unfortunately, the officer's wife works at that Walmart location. She recognized the inmate and called the prison. I guess she did not know about the arrangement the inmate had with her husband. The rover came and picked the inmate up at Walmart and put him in Ad.Seg. He will probably be there until his sentence is up!.
d.: I do NOT see how this involves you, or how it would have been different a few months ago.
C.: Well, the officer drops his pet off for us to watch each day. He picks him up after shift. The officer wants his pet watched all day while he is at work, because it is still very young. After the officer confessed, the warden wanted him to have a psych evaluation. He wanted to make sure that his officer was sane.
C.: I see. How is it a better situation now than a few months ago, though?
d.: Well, we only have one medical mental health advisor now, Mr. Cantu. His former partner, Ms. Cannought, was transferred to another facility. Man, did they argue when she was here!
C.: Yes, I remember her. She triaged me when I went to the kennel. Boy, was she a negative Nancy!
d.: Yes, and Mr. Cantu is so positive. They just did not get along!
C.: I guess that you had an interesting and long day. I will let you rest now.
