Hi! It's Cal.E. Kat, flying solo today. I told d.c. to take the day off. Unfortunately, he was not able to take advantage of the opportunity and catch up on his sleep. He called me from the kennel, just before I started writing this post. He said that he was stuck doing more overtime because of an incident that occurred at the kennel just before he was scheduled to get off work and go home.
The incident that caused d.c. to work overtime involved the man who was mentioned in yesterday's post. He convinced the guards at the human kennel that he could not walk, because the self-defense instructor he de tried to rob had injured him so badly that he could not walk. Additionally, his legs hurt so much that he needed to be taken to the hospital and given something for his pain. Since the nurse at the human kennel was off duty and could not examine the inmate, the guards at the human kennel were afraid that the man was seriously injured, so they did as he asked. They procured a wheelchair from the infirmary at the human kennel and then took the inmate to the local hospital to be examined. After parking their van at the hospital, one guard went inside to ask how long the wait would be for the inmate to be seen. The other guard felt an urgent need to relieve himself. He assumed that the inmate would not be able to go anywhere, since he had been injured so badly by the martial arts expert. The guards left the inmate in the van with his hands cuffed together and his feet free. When the two guards returned, the inmate had escaped.
The guards did not know where the inmate may be, and they were scared to call the police for fear they would be fired. They began to search. They found him two miles from the hospital. The kennel was only two miles from the hospital. the inmate was walking down the road. He had left the wheelchair one mile behind him. That is how the guards figured out where he was.
.The inmate had convinced the kennel workers to take him to see his kid, or he would rat them out about his brief escape. He said he wanted to go see his kid because he was worried about him. The guards thought that the inmate was referring to a human juvenile. They were shocked when they pulled up to the animal kennel.
When the guards got to the kennel, they saw why the inmate was concerned, though. His “kid” was flat on his back. After about twenty seconds, though, the kid got back on his feet and was acting normal. He was a fainting goat and this was normal behavior for the kid.
The kennel workers were obligated to fill out statements for the guards about how they had found the inmate. That is why d.c. was obligated to stay late at work today. He was giving a statement to the guards.
The guards were angry and scared of losing their jobs. They began to yell at the inmate and ask him why, if he could walk while having his legs shackled, he asked for a wheelchair. The inmate replied that, on a 0-10 scale, his pain level in his legs was a 2. He felt that he should NEVER feel ANY pain in ANY part of his body. So, he asked to be taken to the hospital to be prescribed narcotics. This was AFTER he tried to rob someone of her possessions. (SMH) You humans live in a VERY strange world!
