Cal.E.'s Corner

Where it began, I can't begin to knowing

But then I know it's growing strong

Was in the spring

And spring became the summer

Who'd have believed you'd come along

Hands, touching hands

Reaching out, touching me, touching you

Sweet Caroline

Good times never seemed so good

I've been inclined

To believe they never would

But now I

Look at the night and it don't seem so lonely

We filled it up with only two

And when I hurt

Hurting runs off my shoulders

How can I hurt when holding you

One, touching one

Reaching out, touching me, touching you

Sweet Caroline

Good times never seemed so good

I've been inclined

To believe they never would

Oh no, no

Sweet Caroline

Good times never seemed so good

Sweet Caroline

I believe they never could

Sweet Caroline

Good times never seemed so good

C.: d.c., I may need your help, since you ARE a mystery writer. Ralph sent Tom and me these lyrics in a text this morning. I don’t know what they mean, and neither do T.J, Tom, or his dad. Can you help me, please?

d.: Let me see your phone, Ca..E. Yes, I DO know EXACTLY where your youngest son is: Elvis Island!

C.: Don't you mean ELLIS Island? Why would he send these lyrics if he is on an island off the coast of New Jersey? (https://www.cntraveler.com › Inspiration › Islands)

d..: NOT ELLIS Island, Cal.E. ELVIS Island! Don’t you remember when my family and I went to see relatives on the east coast? We got stuck in New York City. Afterward, we went to North Carolina to see relatives. They took us deep sea fishing, and I saw Elvis Pressley and Freddie Mercury. They came onto the fishing boat to promote the movie “Elvis.” Apparently, Elvis gets some kind of kickback for that movie, even though they are now living on an uncharted island off the coast of the Carolinas!

Since I am the only one who knows how to get to “Elvis Island,” I should go and help y’all find Ralph. Let’s see… OH, NO!!

C.: What is it d.c.?!

d.: The only way to get to the coast of North Carolina is to take a flight to New York’s Laguardia Airport and then catch a connecting flight to Wilmington!

C.: Why is that so bad, d.c.?

d.: Because, Cal.E., that is how my family and I got stuck in New York City a few months ago. I have already crossed “visit New York City” off my bucket list (after I ADDED it). I do NOT want to get stuck there again!

C.: Why is that?

d.: I think Hank, Jr. said it best.

If Heaven ain't a lot like Dixie

I don't wanna go

If Heaven ain't a lot like Dixie

I'd just as soon stay home

… If they don't have a Grand Ole Opry

Like they do in Tennessee

Just send me to Hell or New York City

It would be about the same to me
