C.: d.c., I saw a post on your manager’s Facebook page that looked like it may be the fireworks you saw last night at the Astros AAA team’s game. Is that what I saw?
d.: No, Cal.E. That was Eudora’s reaction when I showed her my credit card bill. It included the tickets to the Yankees-Astros game my son and I attended when we were stuck in New York. It also included a couple of slices of pizza that I bought at Grand Central Station.
C.: Were either worth the price you paid for them?
d.: The game was, the pizza was not. The food we ate at the game, which was included with the price of the tickets, was better than the pizza we ate in New York. I have had better takeout pizza in Houston. Everyone brags about how good New York style pizza is. Personally, I prefer Chicago style pizza. The Pizza I bought in New York was nothing special. Perhaps we should have gone to an actual restaurant to eat the pizza, instead of the main station for the subway system in New York. That may have had something to do with the quality of the pizza, but we were a little rushed. My son did NOT want to miss the game, and neither did I!
C.: That’s understandable. But I thought that Eudora’s reaction was a little obsessive. You already told her what you paid for those tickets. She should not have been shocked.
d.: She got over it quickly. Since she is a n accountant, money is very important to her. Her accounting skills are why a let her handle both our paychecks. I do not need to worry about money that way!
C.: I see. d.c, why does your wife drive a late-model Mercedes-Benz S.U.V., and you drive fifteen-year-old truck and classic car? Also, whenever I see you, you are always dressed in either your work scrubs or gym clothes. Eudora usually wears the latest fashion. Since I have never seen her wear the same thing twice, I assume she has a LOT of clothes, and most of them are high-quality outfits.
d.: Well, I like to be comfortable, and Eudora works at an office, where dress clothes are required. Also, I like my truck and car. I went to a lot of trouble to get the classic Mustang running; and Eudora bought that Mercedes S.U. V. for the same price that a Toyota S.U.V. would have cost us. It has more bells and whistles than the Toyota, and Mercedes-Benz brand automobiles have an excellent reputation for lasting a long time.
Since we will not need a new car for many years, Eudora and I can pay off our house and all our debts. That will allow both of us to retire early. It was Eudora’s accounting skills that put us in that situation. Additionally, since I work at three different jobs, I do not have time to sit down and pay bills. It is a win-win situation!
C.: that’s all the time we have for today, folks! Join us tomorrow when d.c (hopefully) “wakes up and smells the coffee!”
