C.: d.c., wake up!
d.: I'm awake Cal.E. Humans are usually awake during daylight hours (unlike most cats). What is going on? You seem upset!
C.: I AM upset! Tom sent me this picture from Mexico. What do you think it means?
d.: Oh, wow! I think it means that you should go back into hiding. Tom apparently did NOT forget the money you took from him. I would say that it means that he will be gunning for you when he gets back to Houston. I'm all for the second amendment, but that picture is disturbing. (Maybe catnip is not the only thing Tom went to Mexico to get).
C.: I'm DOOMED. Mom and dad do NOT want any guns in our house. They were afraid that one of their sons would take the gun and shoot one of his brothers. Now that they are all grown, they still do not have guns in the house, because Dad doesn't hunt anymore. He says that he is not interested in it, after giving it up for more than twenty years. Mom says that we live in such a safe neighborhood that it is not necessary to have a gun in the house to protect ourselves. What will I do?
d.: Hide? Try to get a job and pay Tom's money back, maybe? IDK, Cal.E. You need to think of something, though. The NCAA basketball Final Four is next weekend. That is when Tom and T. will be back from Tijuana. You need to either disappear or find the money by then, somehow.
C.: THAT"S IT! The Final Four! I will bet on the best teams. Certainly, Duke is Duke, so they will win. I will bet with a bookie that is still in the States and win ALL of Tom's money back!
d.: What will you do if you lose?
C.: Well, since it is kind of YOUR fault that I came out of hiding...
d.: ???
C.: YOU told me the "coast was clear." YOU said that Tom was not worried about collecting his money anymore. So, if I lose, YOU should pay the bookie, as well as Tom his money back!
d.: I don't think so, Cal.E. You are the one who got into this mess, and you are just making it worse. What I CAN do is help you look for a job. The Kennel is looking for custodial staff to help with the dog kennels. It doesn't pay much, but it is a start. If you will help clean out dog cages at the kennel, maybe you could earn enough money to pay Tom back a little at a time
C.: DOG cages!? OH, NO, dc.! I will NOT be doing THAT!
d.: It's up to you, Cal.E. Do you want to go into hiding for the rest of your life, or do you want to deal with Tom and his arsenal, as well as "The Tuxedo"?
