Cal.E.'s Corner

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

d.: Well, the Houston LIvestock Show and Rodeo is over, and I did not get to see any of the performers, or any of the rodeo this year. However, Cal.E. has apparently been hiding in Energy Stadium during the rodeo. She says that she is waiting for a more interesting event. She texted me these pictures with the captions attached, as well as an explanation for each.

C.: Now that the human (amateurish) rodeo is over in Houston (BORING!!), it is time for the cat rodeo (EXCITING!). If you have never heard of the "Cat Rodeo" (if so, what planet have YOU been visiting?!).

I gather some of you humans, though, may not know about the "Cat Rodeo," since it is a somewhat clandestine event. It is held in the middle of the night, when most of you humans are sound asleep. So, here are the most popular events at the cat rodeo.I will explain each as we go.

First, we have the "riding the horse backward event." This event was invented when one of the cowboy cats had too much catnip and mounted his steed facing the wrong way. It has been an annual event since then in the "Cat Rodeo."

Next, we have the "Hey, you, get off my back" contest. This event involves cats throwing their humans off of their backs (and trails). The humans do not actually RIDE the cats, but the picture gives you some idea as to how this event goes.

Next, we have the ever-popular bull riding event. Since cats are sensitive to the fact that bulls are animals, too; we use only mechanical bulls in our rodeos.

Moving on.

We have THE most popular event at the cat rodeo, the dog riding event. Yes, we use LIVE dogs, because, well, why wouldn't we? They're DOGS for goodness sake.

And the rocking horse event is just for old cats who do not actually compete anymore. It is not an event that earns money, it is just something for old cats to do while NOT competing in the Cat Rodeo.

And, finally, we have the cat dueling event. This event is only done when two cats tie for the championship of the rodeo. There is only so much catnip to give out, so one of the competitors must be eliminated. Second place is not just for losers, it can also be fatal, if one is competing in the "Cat Rodeo." Back to you, d.c.

d.: Thank you, Cal.E. for that rather informative and VERY disturbing description of your "Cat Rodeo."
