C.: How’s it going, d.c.?

d.: Not very well.

C.: Oh, why?

d.: I’m a little upset.

C.: Because…

d.: Because I recently read an article that said that there is a 0.000001% chance that one of the medications I’m taking can lead to memory loss

C.: Well, do you remember the name of the medication?

d.: Um…no.

C.: Do you remember where you read this information?

d.:  No, not really.

C.: Well, then, do you remember on what day you read the article?

d.: What article?

C.: (I guess d.c. was the one person that this medication affected with memory loss, but I’ll test his long-term memory). What team won the first game called the Super Bowl?

d.: Most people would guess that is it was the Green Bay Packers, but that’s incorrect. The first two Super Bowls were known, at the time, as the AFL-NFL championship game. Those two games, won by the Packers, were later renamed Super Bowl One and Two. However, the name ‘Super Bowl’ was first used in Super Bowl Three. Interestingly enough, the name came from the name super ball, a rubber ball that was tightly wound. It would bounce very high when thrown at the floor.  Kansas City Chiefs woner Lamar Hunt. the man who coined the phrase only came up with the name while watching his son play with his toy. He hoped that the name would be changed at a later date, but never was.

As for the game, ‘Broadway’ Joe Namath, the quarterback of the New York Jets; the AFLs champion for that 1968 season, guaranteed a victory for his team over the NFL’s Baltimore Colts. The Colts had an advantage in experience, as well as experienced leaders in coach Don Shula and Quarterback Earl Moral. In an upset for the ages, though, Namath led his team to a 16-7 victory over the Colts, which won him the honor of being named the most valuable player in that game.

C.: That’s correct. Now, for the $64,000 question, what’s another English word for synonym?

d.: Well, that’s all the time we have for today, folks. Please join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’’s Korner. (And if you know that answer to this question, leave a comment).
