C.: T., this is your better half, and you need to call me ASAP! We have some problems that need to be addressed and…

T.: Hello, Cal.E. It’s nice to hear your voice. What can I do for you?

C.: Well, today, the downstairs maid only came for two hours, and the upstairs maid didn’t come at all. You need to fire both of them, along with the chef. She only gave me some broiled chicken for lunch, and it was…not as good as I would have liked for it to be.

Also,  neither the yard crew nor the pool cleaner has done their jobs  this week, either.

Things are a mess here at home, T. You need to come back to Wayne Manor and straighten this out

T.: There's a logical explanation for this, Cal.E.

C.: I’m listening, but make it snappy. I’m expecting an important phone call.

T.: From whom?

C.: Well, I don’t know exactly, but I know that it will be good news. What were you going to say in defense of the derelict servants?

T.: Cal.E., my portfolio has taken a hit in the last few weeks, so I cut back on some expenses. I told one maid to take a sabbatical, and the other to just come for two hours a day. She can clean up the upstairs one day, and the downstairs the next. 

The chef is preparing the kind of food I need to train, but she must have gotten in mixed up with your menu, so I will talk to her. I know that you only want to eat fish, so I’ll bring home my catch when Tom and I come home tomorrow.

As far as the pool cleaner and lawn crew, I told them to take sabbaticals to save money. I reasoned that I could do their work and incorporate it into my training routine. So, you see, there’s a logical explanation for everything.

C.: Well, since you put it that way, I’ll just go and read the Online Book Club Book of the Day. Today, it looks like d.c.’s PRECISION is the book of the day. I’ve forgotten most of the plot, so I’ll reread the whole thing. Otherwise, I might get confused.
