Cal.E.'s Korner

C.: d.c., do you think that you can handle writing the blog for a couple of days?

d.: I can, as soon as I finish up my homework assignment but why? Aren’t you going to be around?

C.: No. My third husband, Tucker Tucker Two, a.k.a. The Cat Fighter Formerly Known As The Tuxedo (who really needs a shorter nickname) Now Simply Known As T Because Triple T Was Already Taken and I are going on a couple’s retreat.’

d.: So that y’all can reconnect romantically?

C.: Something like that. T said something about it being a lot of fun activities. After that, I stopped listening. You know how T can go on and on and on and on…

d.: Actually, I don’t. Most of his interviews after he wins a cat fight are questions that he answers with one word.

C.: Yes, well, he’s different at home. He actually answers questions in complete sentences…sometimes.

d.: Okay, Cal.E., don’t worry about the blog for a couple of days. I’m already writing tomorrow’s script in my head.

C.: Then shouldn’t you be writing it down or typing it into the computer?

d.: That won’t be necessary.

C.: Why is that?

d.: Because I have a memory like a…..like a…like a…

C.: Steel trap?

d.: Cal.E., I told you that we don’t use vulgar language in this blog, and I certainly wouldn’t steal from anyone.

C.: No, d.c. Steel, the strong, light weight somewhat flexible metal, not steal. And I said TRAP: T-R-A-P.

d.: Is that an expression? I don’t remember anyone saying that.

C.: No, just everyone on this planet that speaks the language we’re speaking now.

d.: And what language would that be?

C.: ENGLISH.

d.:  Oh, yes. Alex English. He was a 6’8’’ small forward for the Denver Nuggets and, later,  the Dallas Mavericks, but that was after I moved to Houston. English, who played basketball collegiality at USC-The University of South Carolin, not the University of Southern California, who competed for players with their cross town arch-rivals, the Bruins of UCLA-the University of California at Los Angeles. UCLA won ten national championships under the legendary coach, JOhn Wooden. This incredible number included the Bruins winning seven consecutive national championships in the lates ‘60s and early ‘70s.

English  was drafted by the Nuggets in the second round of the 1976 draft He was a good, but not great player. However, he was elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997…what were we talking about?

C.: d.c., did you take all your medication today?

d.: Hmm…I don’t recall taking any medicine today..

C.: That could be the problem. You go take your memory pills, and I’ll wrap up the blog.

That’s all the time we have for today, folks, so please join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner
