Eudora: d.c., can you turn the volume down, please? It's too loud and is giiving me a headache.

d.: What's that, dear? The volume on the television is too loud. Let me turn it down so I can hear you.

E.: that's better, thank you. I know that you like to watch sports, but don’t you think that you’re overdoing it a bit?

d.: Maybe, but I haven’t seen a football game since Spring, and the Astros are in a tight pennant race. And…the Astors never win the games I don’t watch. I have an obligation to help them win.

E.: Okay with the Astros, but football is still in its preseason. Must you watch every preseason game?

d.: Well, if not me, who?

E.: I’m just saying that, well, basketball and hockey season will also start soon. You need to take it easy on your eyes.

d.: I appreciate your concern.

E.: I’m going to leave you alone. I have such a headache!

d.: Man, I thought she’d never leave. Now, which channel is “Nine Lives to Give” on? Oh, yes, AMF.

Let’s see, Cassie has just ridden into Hollerin’ Hollow, that town where this soap is set. It’s 1888, and most people are still riding horses. I suppose that goes for cats, too. Anyway, Cassie is looking for the man who shot her paw (her bio dad and her right front). This man also killed her mother, leaving fourteen kittens orphans. They were all adopted into good homes, but Cassie wanted her family back together. She found all her litter mates, and now she’s just out for revenge.

is a rancher who doubles as the town sheriff, as well as the justice of the peace.

Anyway, Brown Bart went fishing and caught a lot of large bass…

better. Anyway, Cassie’s dad saw how many fish Bart caught and thought he could spare a few. He wanted to feed his wife a delicious meal, so he took a chance and tried to rob Bart of one lousy fish.

Bart was upset because Cassie's dad tried to get the biggest fish, the one he wanted to mount on a wall. When he saw Cassie's dad stealing his fish, he unloaded his pistol on the tom cat. One bullet hit Cassie's dad, and killed him.

Cassie was the oldest, so she tried to do CPR on her mom when one of the bullets Bart fired at her dad hit her in the chest, but her efforts were in vain. Cassie’s right front paw was broken, so she couldn’t save her mom.

As an adult cat, Cassie wants to confront and kill the man who was responsible for her family breaking up.
