C.: Well, d.c. is working late, but he wants me to read this introduction to his five book series THE MAGRUDER MYSTERIES. Maybe this will shed some light on the life of detective James David Magruder.
A PREVIEW OF THE MAGRUDER MYSTERIES
This book is the first in a five-book series entitled “The Magruder Mysteries.” This book follows the life of detective James David Magruder. Jay became realized as the foremost authority on solving cold cases in the Greater Houston, Texas area during his career. Because he chose to do most of his work in Houston's dangerous Third Ward, Jay advances his police career quickly, at the expense of his relationships and personal wellbeing.
Although the Third Ward houses two major state universities and many mansions, it has the reputation as the fifteenth most dangerous neighborhood in the United States. This neighborhood is the one where Jay’s chief nemesis can be found most of the time when inside the boundaries of the United States.
The first book begins with the funeral of his first wife, Alice, who was Jay’s first true love. The book then goes back in time and tells the circumstances under which the couple met. Jay is fascinated with nurses, so it’s only fitting that the woman he was never able to forget carries that designation. Although he, too, is a cop and trained the young Magruder to be a policeman, Jay’s father-in-law, Ben Jones, is none too fond of the decision his older daughter and closest friend made in selecting a mate to share her life with.
The stress created by the person constantly observing the couple, combined with Ben’s influence and some other extenuating circumstances, lead the couple to divorce. This is something Jay doesn’t recover from until his first wife’s life ends; a fact that leads to two more divorces until Jay finds the person he thinks he can stay married to after he learns of Alice’s death. Sarai is connected to the Logan family, who play an important role in the course of Jay Magruder’s life.
