I guess Cal.E. is still depressed about all her teams losing last week. She still is not answering her phone, so I will just proceed with the next chapter of Beyond the Thirteenth Mile; The Iron Man Chronicles
CHAPTER 25:
JUST ANOTHER DAY
Run course: Mile Twenty-three; Well, here I am at mile twenty-three. It looks like I will finish in about fourteen and one-half hours. NOT bad.
This is definitely NOT just another day, though. I am going to finish an IronMan distance triathlon! I feel SO good! What is that volunteer saying? I do NOT understand...
OH CRUD! Who put that there? I did NOT notice that speed bump being in that place during the previous loops on this course.
Is my right knee okay? Can I finish? That would hurt badly to get this far and not finish. Chris Leigh and Julie Moss almost won before cratering. I just want to finish.
Please, please PLEASE let my knee go back into place so that I can finish this race!!
d.: Cal.E., where did you come from? And WHY did you tear up my manuscript?!
C.: Those aren’t my emancipation papers? I thought Mom and Dad left them with you for safekeeping.
d.: NO, Cal.E. they are not. The last I heard, your mom and dad were filing them with a lawyer. That was my manuscript that I was almost finished putting on my website. Now, none of us (including me) will know what happened!
C.: I’m sorry, d.c., but the puppy is driving me mad! I must return home to Mom and Dad. I cannot take it anymore! Tell me what to do!
d.: Benjamin Franklin once said, “I wise man does not need advice, and a fool will not take it.”
C.: I am NOT a man, dc. I am a CAT. I need to know what to do! I REALLY want to go back home and live with Mom and Dad. I cannot live with the warden and Lucia if the puppy is living with them. He only sleeps 16 hours a day! He wants to play the whole eight hours he is awake! That is twice as long as I am accustomed to being awake! HELP!
d.: Well, since you are a cat, I will give you some advice. Go home to your mom and dad and ask them to take you to the lawyer. S/he can retract the order and you may live with your mom and dad as long as you wish, as long as they will take you back. Now, YOU tell ME what I am going to do about my manuscript.
C.: Don’t you remember what happened, d.c.? If not, don’t you have another copy of the manuscript somewhere?
d.: It was twenty years ago. My memory is not that good. The only other copy of my manuscript I sent to a publisher to have it published.
C.: That is the answer, then, d.c. You and everyone who was reading online will need to wait until the book comes out. Y’all can read the end of the book then. I am also anxious to see what happened. I am not twenty years old, so I don’t know what happened at the end of the book.
d.: (Heavy sigh). I guess so, Cal.E. That seems to be the only option. I will let you and everyone else know when that happens. Just try to stay out of trouble with your mom and dad.
C.: Will do, d.c. I need to take a nap first, though. The puppy wore me out!
d.: I will talk to you tomorrow then, Cal.E. Keep your phone close by!
C.: ZZZZZZZ
