Tux: Hi, d.c. thanks for your help yesterday. Cal.E. didn’t suspect a thing. When you brought over her cat toys and collars decorated with bling, she almost flipped. When I hand her a plane ticket to Paris, she got a lilt worried. Her fears were relieved, though, when I presented her with a new suitcase full of new clothes that was packed for her tour. She said that she needed to be in Baumont tomorrow to begin her tour with Ralph and the RoCKats, so she wasn’t sure that it was a good idea to go to Paris lest night. I told her not to worry, because I had chartered her a flight from Houston to Beaumont tonight.

d.: So, y’all didn’t have any trouble getting out of Paris on time?
Tux.: Well, it was a close call. It’s freezing in Illinois right now, but our plane

didn’t get grounded. It was worth taking a chance on, though, because the garbage cans behind a restaurant in Paris, Illinois has the best tuna sushi in the world!

d.: That’s great! I’m glad it all worked out for the two of you.
Tux.: I hope that I didn’t get you in any trouble with Eudora, though. Doesn’t she care about Valentine’s Day?
d.: Like every woman, she does, but she knows how I feel about this day. IDK how a day honoring St Valentine became a day to celebrate romantic love, but it can be stressful, as I well know.
Did you know that Valentine’s Day has the third highest rate of suicide of any holiday, right after Christmas and Thanksgiving?
Tux. Wow, I didn’t know that…
d.: Most people don’t; realize this, but it’s believable if you see people who are alone on this holiday year after year. That can be very depressing, and I was one of those people for many years. That’s why I talked Eudora into celebrating it a day early, since it was actually February the thirteenth when we started our relationship that led to a quarter of a century of marriage.

Tux.: So, is Eudora cool with that?
d.: Yes. If you think about it, it’s better. Everyone wants to go out and have a gourmet meal on Valentine’s Day, but we celebrate it a day early. We have our choice of restaurants and other venues we choose to pursue.
Tux.: Where did y’all go this year?
d.: We just stayed in. Eudora said she didn’t feel like going out because she had a horrible headache.

Tux.: So, you got off easy this year.
d.: I did and I’m okay with Valentine’s Day now. I learned, when I was single, to view the day as an opportunity to maybe peruse a new love interest if I wasn’t dating anyone seriously. More than that, though, I would just try to find people who needed cheering up and give them something that would make them smile, like a rose.

Tux. Oh, yes. Cal.E. said that Eudora told her that you could grow some beautiful roses. I’m sure she liked those.
d.: She did. She didn’t want me to buy any roses for her, but she liked the ones I grew. And, even though she’s probably the most generous person I’ve ever known, she refused to give any of those roses to anyone else.
Tux.: That speaks well of those roses, but you were a horticulturist when y’all met.
d.: We were, but it was still nice to get advice from other people who had already been growing roses for a
while.
Tux. : Speaking of time frames, I need to make sure that Cal.E.’s charter flight to Beaumont is still on schedule.
d.: So that’s all the time we have for today, folks. Sp, that's the end of this cat ta(i)e.
