C.:  d.c. isn’t here, and I thought that he was coming to Wayne Manor

to write our script today. He didn’t come yesterday. He said that he had something important to do. Maybe it’s taken him two days to do that important thing. I’ll call him and ask. (ring)

Hmm, he didn’t answer on the first ring, so I’ll let my mind wonder. Now that I’m a wiz at math, I can use it to prove a theory (ring). If A= b and b=c, then a = c, correct? (ring) Well, with this theory, I can prove that a square And a triangle are the same thing. (ring). The area of a square is the sides squared, and the Pythagorean theorem states that, in a 3-4-5 triangle, the sum of the sides SQUARED is the hypotenuse SQUARED. Therefore, both a 3-4-5 triangle’s and a square sides are squared to arrive at a distance or an area. Therefore,, a=b and b=c, so a =c (rii)

C.: Oh, d.c. You finally answered your phone.

d.: And I’m glad I did. I caught the last part of you thinking aloud, and it’s scary.

C.: Why?

d.: Beecause Cal.E., you compared two dissimilar things to come up with your answer. Solving for the area of a square is not the same as solving for the hypotenuse of a 3-4-5 triangle.

C.: Then, do you want to engage in a math-a-thon to see who is better at math?

d.: No, Cal.E., I don’t have time. This chore that Eudora gave me to do is taking up all my free time.

C.: So, it’s an important task to find something very important?

d.: I’ll say.

C.: What does this object do?

d.: It can literally save a house by preventing it from catching fire. It can also reduce the amount that a homeowner pays for his or her electricity, but it’s hard to find a replacement for the original.

C.: This sounds important. What piece of equipment have you been looking for the last two days?

d.: A lent screen for my dryer. The original one has a hole in it, and it’s taking forever to dry our clothes. That uses a lot of electricity and takes a lot of time. If the lint screen isn’t cleaned regularly and is allowed to become too full, it can cause the house to catch fire.

C.: You said that if you don’t clean the lint screen, the house can catch fire?

d.: It is one common cause of houses catching fire.

C.: Well, I must go check on something, so I suppose we’re out of time for today. Please join us tomorrow for another episode of Cal.E.’s Korner.
