C.: So, D.C., which is the big change? The picture in the introduction as your profile picture? Or is it, the capitalization of your name,? Or the dropping of the last T off Scott?

D.: Nice try, Cal.E. While all of that is true, none of that is what I was talking about yesterday. And, I dropped the last T from Scott several years ago.

C.: So, you did. I knew that wasn’t it, but I wanted to catch you off guard. Well, did you add the last T back and drop the first T, then?

D.: ???

C.: You said you dropped the last T from your last (pen) name. However, there are two T’s in Scott. So, which T did you drop, the first one or the last one?

D.: Does it matter? I just wanted to spell my pen name like someone from Scotland.

C.: Because your Scottish?

D.: Among other things, yes. You could probably name any country in Northern Europe, and that would be part of my heritage, but I just wanted to distinguish myself from the late author, who was also a mystery writer, D.C. Scott.

C.: Oh, yes. Cat Need kNowledge says that he died about eighty years ago, and CNN is never wrong.

D.: Well, it may not have been wrong when you used it, to your knowledge, but I wouldn’t use one website as the absolute when it comes to truth.

C.: Go on.

D.: Well, when I was in regular college, the way I was taught to write a research paper was to use three different sources and try to get more than one opinion. In other words, don’t use two or three books written by the same author.

C.: Books? Well, they do make good pillows, but did you have to trudge all the way to the library to do research?

D.: Yes, Cal.E., I did have to trudge all the way to the library, five miles both ways, and uphill both ways, in the snow.

C.: In the South, even in the Srping and Summer?

D.: Yes.

C.: And then you came back to your cave and wrote your paper on the wall with a sharpened stone?

D.: No, Cal.E., but I did use one of these.

This was before computers were popular. I would have had to go back to the library, or a computer lab to use one of these.

Now, though, there are computers with websites, as well as artificial intelligence. It’s not nearly as hard to write a research paper as it was when I was in college the first time.

C.: THAT’S IT, ISN’T IT?!! You’re going to use AI to write a series of books, sell them, and then retire to an unchartered island in the Pacific, never to be seen or heard from again, leaving me to write the blog solo…not him.

I meant by myself?!

D.: No, that’s not it. I would tell you, but we’re out of time for today.

C.: So, I suppose that’s the end of this cat ta(i)le, folks.

Please join us next time for another edition of Cal.E.’s Korner.
